LO1 - Tramlines Festival

Purpose

The purpose of the Tramlines logo is to help advertise and promote the tramlines festival, the way they have achieved this is by having it all over their merchandise and posters,  for example the purpose of the logo on the t-shirt. Just like any logo on any piece of clothing is a form of promotion, because whenever they wear the clothing they are representing their brand in a way.
Another purpose for the logo would be to place it on a billboard, the way they have done this is by taking a particular artist that will be on that year and then place the logo over them, this is ideal because it advertises the artist (which a person who sees this may like) and it also has the distinct tramlines logo.  The way they have made it distinct is by the bright red, and pink colours they have used on this.
The Poster below the Billboard as you can see has the red shade that people will associate with, on the poster the artists are listed. And it also has promotional dates on it, and prices. All essential information that a
The web banner also features the same looking colours on it with the same information, bands, dates and times.
user may need just by looking at a poster.

Format

The format for the tramlines is done in various ways, it is on t-shirts, posters, billboards and tickets. Every single thing that it is seen on is part of promoting it, the person may wear it because it has a logo on but in reality the logo is only there to promote the event that is the tramlines.

Content

There is lot of white space around the text and logo within all of the products that the Tramlines logo fits onto. There is large kerning on the poster for the Tramlines festival, as they want to provide the visitor with information if it is either their first time at the event or at the location. As the campaign's main focus is to inform new people about the event, or help people who are already going, and to basically relay the information in a sufficient, clear way. The juxtaposition between the red background and white text is quite a contrast because one is quite a plain and neutral colour and the other has a lot of different feelings and connotations to it.

Style

The style of the letters have kerning used to an extent, with a slight space in-between the letters making each letter look exaggerated, but almost give an almost retro feeling to it. The leading on the poster is fairly compact and close together, this helps add to the retro feeling that this piece may have. The typography for the marketing remains the same on every single item it appears on tghat is used to promote the Tramlines festival.

Layout

The layout throughout the tramlines promotional campaign is the same all the way throughout the marketing career has been used. The main colours which are used during the campaign are red, blue and purple. The idea behind having associated colours behind  a marketing campaign is to make the audience familiar with the company that you are trying to promote with just a quick glance, also the colours that tramlines use stand out quite a bit because they aren't just plain colours. A lot of white space is used throughout the marketing campaign, this is almost like part of a minimalistic approach due to the fact that there is barely any real graphics used besides the text and a logo. The size of the text on a poster is in such a way that it has the most popular performers at a bigger font so Wu Tang Clan is at the top and then less well known bands like Alcest is at the bottom in a smaller font as they aren't as popular or mainstream because they are a fairly unknown French band.

Target Audience

The target audience for all of these are people that like going to festivals, and people within Sheffield. You can tell the type of people that they are trying to attract by merely going to their website and looking at some of the pictures, when you look at the venues. The pictures on here are of young people, in a cramp area enjoying music. I would say that an ABC1 audience would be the prime audience for the Tramlines due to the fact that you would need a disposable income to spend on trivial things such as a music festival.

Regulatory Bodies

All the forms of advertising don't cause offense, or give false information. The information on all these pieces are correct, which is important when advertising a product as this can't cause any sort of legal issues for the company. Also this advertising does not glorify alchol, sexual activity or any sort of drug taking which will help avoid the company any form of legal issues. Also this form of advertising does not require any form of disclaimer warning the person about any false hoods, or things they would rather not bring to the fore front of their product. The Advertising Standards Authority, basically sort out any company that is advertising and being out of order, they don't enforce law, but their opinions are highly influential on what gets shown to the public.
